Natural Beauty Recipe
DIY All-Natural Disinfecting Spray
By: Raychel Chumley
This flu season has been called one of the worst in history. It’s hit our family and I know it’s probably hit yours. But, if you are anything like me you hate all the chemicals in most disinfecting sprays and cleaning products. I hate exposing my young family to these dangerous chemicals and I started making my own disinfecting sprays from essential oils that have disinfecting and antibacterial qualities. I want to share with you a natural beauty recipe with you so that you can keep your home toxic free while destroying all those cold and flu germs!
I love all-natural beauty products and cleaning products you can create in your own home. (that’s how Love and Lavender Bath Co. started ) It’s scary when you start researching and looking at all the chemicals in our cosmetics, bath products, and household cleaners. Not only do I want to create wonderful handcrafted products for you to use in your home, I also want to share with you some easy DIY recipes you can whip up in your own kitchen!
You can adjust this recipe to make a little, or make a lot! It is safe for the kiddos so they can help you clean. It’s safe for pets, too!
Germs Be Gone Disinfecting Spray
1 cup of Vinegar
2 cups of Distilled Water
20 drops of Tea Tree essential oil
20 drops of Rosemary essential oil
20 drops of Lemon essential oil
Mix all ingredients together and store in a clean squirt bottle. Shake well before using as oils will separate.
Use cleaner in bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry rooms to clean and disinfect.
Yield: This recipe makes 24 ounces of cleaner.
Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy! You can find these essential oils in your local health food store or online. You can mix and match your oils to get just the right smell for you. FYI, if you add a couple squirts of dawn blue dish washing liquid, you have the BEST bathtub and window cleaner. I know this doesn’t make your mix completely non-toxic but I haven’t found anything that cleans like this! If you use our bath products try this combo for cleaning the ring you get on your tub from the oils in the scrubs.
After you’ve tried this recipe, come back and leave me a comment and let me know what you thought! I would love to hear your story. Or, find me on Facebook and share with me a comment on how this recipe worked for you. Happy germ hunting!
